HamTraqr Support
Help for the mobile apps, and for the servers clubs run themselves.
Your event's server — who can see you, whether you appear on the map, PINs, event passwords, and what happens to your data: ask the club running the event. Each club operates its own server, and we have no access to it.
The app — crashes, install problems, anything wrong with the app itself on your phone or watch: support@hamtraqr.com.
Problems with the mobile apps
Your best line of support is to work with your local ham club. They have installed the server and tested it with the mobile apps. They are the best-equipped to answer your questions in a timely manner. If your club can't solve your problem, you can email us at support@hamtraqr.com, and say which phone and OS version you are on, as well as the version of the mobile app you're using, which you can find using the Help button.
The app crashes, freezes, or will not start
Force-quit and reopen it first. If it keeps happening, tell us what you were doing when it went — the step before a crash is usually the whole diagnosis.
The map is blank
Check you entered your club's server address on the connect screen, and that the device has a signal. A blank map with a working connection usually means the event has no active trackers yet, not that anything is broken.
Sharing my location drains the battery
Continuous GPS is expensive; that is physics rather than a fault. Sharing only runs while you switch it on, and a notification is shown the whole time it is active. Fully charge your device and turn it off between assignments, and carry a backup battery for a long event.
How do I stop sharing my location?
Turn off Share Location in the app, or leave the event. Reporting stops immediately. Positions already sent are held by the server you sent them to — see below.

Problems with a server
Each club installs and runs its own HamTraqr server. We publish the software; we do
not operate anybody's installation, cannot see it, and cannot change anything on it.
For these, ask the club running your event — most servers publish a contact on their
own privacy page at /privacy.php.
I don't appear on the map after sharing
The server decides who is displayed. Confirm with net control that you joined the right event and were accepted.
My PIN or event password is refused
Both are set by the club for that event. Only they can tell you the current one or reset it.
Who can see my position?
Anyone who can reach that club's map, which is what the map is for. If the position is also transmitted over the air on APRS*, it is public radio traffic and reaches public sites such as aprs.fi regardless of any server setting.
Where does my data go, and how long is it kept?
To the server you connected to, and no further — it does not come to us. Retention is that operator's decision. Their privacy page is the place to start, and the same address handles deletion requests.
Running a server
Installing or administering HamTraqr for a club is documented with the software
itself, including the admin guide and the config.yaml reference. Questions
about the software: support@hamtraqr.com.
Do I need an amateur radio licence?
Not to use the app as a tracker — position sharing goes over the internet to your club's server. A licence is required to transmit on amateur frequencies, and the club running your event will tell you which parts of an event need one.
